Legionella control in compliance with the UK HSE ACOP L8 and HSC

Legionella pneumophila, found in cold water storage tanks, calorifiers and other damp places, causes pneumonia in humans. This bacteria was first identified in 1977. Legionella infection is common in poorly maintained artificial water systems, cooling towers and evaporative condensers, air conditioners and industrial cooling systems in both public and private buildings. Legionella risk assessment of all cold and hot water systems is a legal requirement in the UK as a part of a management programme which helps manage the risk of Legionnaires' disease.

Our risk assessments at D & S Chlorination Services have been developed in compliance with the UK Health and Safety Executive ACOP L8 and the Health and Safety Commission (HSC). We cater to schools, hospitals, housing units and public buildings in London, Essex and the South East.

Standard and client specific Legionella risk assessments

What are the steps involved in our Legionella risk assessment?
  • Identification and evaluation of potential sources of risk
  • Outline the current condition of the water systems
  • Check whether the water storage is hygienic, and compliant with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999
  • Offer scanned digital photographs providing evidence of potential risks
  • Check whether water temperatures are satisfactory for Legionella control
  • Identify any remedial actions such as cleaning and disinfection of water systems required to achieve compliance with the relevant guidelines
We can perform both standard and client specific Legionella risk assessments to suit your needs.
